Whooping cough - Pertussis

Pertussis, colloquially known as whooping cough, is a severe bacterial infection that requires immediate medical treatment with antibiotics. Before routine combination vaccination against pertussis, tetanus and diphtheria, the disease was very common in children.

Seven to ten days after infection, fever and cold symptoms may appear. This is followed by spasmodic coughing fits with the typical high-pitched wheezing when inhaling.

Therapy: Administration of painkillers, such as paracetamol or ibuprofen, alleviate your child's discomfort. A homeopathic remedy, Globuli Drosera D6, or sundew, also supports the healing process.

Important: Make sure the humidity in the room is high and make sure your child drinks plenty of clear fluids.
