Pulmonary tuberculosis most commonly affects the lungs. It is distinguished between a non-contagious, encapsulated infection or an open contagious tuberculosis. In the case of immunodeficiency, however, infestation outside the lungs is increasingly apparent. At the beginning of the course of the disease, symptoms such as a strong cough, slightly elevated temperature and night sweats may appear. As the disease progresses, the fever usually increases and the disease can spread to the kidneys, intestines, spinal cord, bones and joints, and even to meningitis.
