Spondylosis deformans

Spondylosis deformans, also called spondylosis, is an umbrella term for general, degenerative and also slowly progressive changes in the spine.

or read here...

The gradual change and degeneration of the intervertebral discs and the resulting increased load on the vertebral bodies cause the vertebral bone to work, grow and change or remodel. This remodeling appears on the X-ray image, for example, as jags or marginal ridges (spondylophytes). If the spondylophytes enlarge in the course of the disease, this can lead to a bony connection and hardening of the vertebral segments (ankylosis).

However, the change, which the affected person often does not even notice, and which also usually occurs in old age, can be quite harmless and different in nature. The symptoms of the changes can be both with and without pain. What of the changes is really relevant, you can clarify with your doctor.
