Sleep disorders

Many people suffer from problems falling asleep or sleeping through the night. On average, adults need seven to eight hours of sleep. In old age, we usually get by on five to six hours of sleep.

A sleepless night does no harm to anyone; however, persistent sleep disturbances, often caused by stress, anxiety or depression, are serious. Consequently, we are tired, irritable and have difficulty concentrating. Physical ailments such as pain, breathing problems, menopausal symptoms and medications can also disrupt sleep.
