Rabies

Rabies, also known as dog rabies, rage disease or rabies, is an infectious disease known for thousands of years that threatens the central nervous system in humans and animals through the rabies virus.

Treatment must be given immediately after infection or suspicion of infection; because when symptoms appear, it is usually too late for treatment. Symptoms may include fever, feeling sick, headache, nausea and vomiting.

99% of human cases worldwide are dog-borne. According to WHO estimates, approximately 55,000 people die of rabies each year.


Therapy: Immediate active vaccination and treatment with antibodies, such as immunoglobulin, even if there is only a suspicion of infection.
