Osteoarthritis - diseases of the peripheral joints

The most common cause of joint pain and stiffness is gradual cartilage wear (osteoarthritis) in the joints. Osteoarthritis usually occurs in old age, often in the large joints such as knees, hips or shoulder joints.

However, all other joints in our body can also be affected, as is often the case with the finger joints. The development of osteoarthritis is seen in an excess of stress, for example due to overweight or congenital and traumatic causes, such as malpositions of the joints. But bony deformities caused by diseases such as osteoporosis or, for example, joint inflammation (arthritis), can also be causative factors.


The aim of therapy is to slow down joint degeneration, relieve pain, increase quality of life and maintain it for as long as possible.
