We call the thyroid gland in an enlarged state goiter, or colloquially also goiter. It produces messenger substances for our organism and acts, for example, on our organs, muscles, nervous system and heartbeat.
If many messenger substances are normally produced in an enlarged thyroid gland, it is called a non-toxic goiter or hypothyroid goiter.
