Measles - childhood disease

Measles is a very contagious viral infection that must be reported to a doctor. The period from infection of the disease to the outbreak with rash (incubation period) is about ten days. With the onset of rash, measles is contagious for four days.

The child suffers from initial symptoms such as rhinitis, red eyes, hard dry cough and fever. After two to four days, a rash with red or brown spots begins on the face and then spreads all over the body. Usually, children recover quite well and the course of the disease is unproblematic. However, measles can also lead to ear infections and even pneumonia or encephalitis.

The administration of painkillers, such as paracetamol or ibuprofen, lowers the fever and relieves discomfort. Also a homeopathic remedy, globules Euphrasia D6, mainly for the eyes, as well as Ammonium carbonicum, mainly for the bronchial tubes, support the healing process.

Important: Your child now needs bed rest in a darkened room, plenty of fluids and moist warm room air to calm the respiratory tract.
