Measles - childhood disease

Measles is a very contagious viral infection for which medical notification is mandatory.

The period from infection with the disease to the outbreak with rash (incubation period) is about ten days. From the onset of the rash, measles is still contagious for about four days.

The sick child suffers from initial symptoms such as rhinitis, red eyes, hard dry cough and fever. After two to four days, a rash with red or brown spots begins on the face and then spreads over the entire body. Usually, children recover quite well and the course of the disease is unproblematic. However, measles can also lead to ear infections and even pneumonia or encephalitis. The administration of painkillers, such as paracetamol or ibuprofen, lowers the fever and relieves discomfort. Also a homeopathic remedy, globules Euphrasia D6, mainly for the eyes, as well as Ammonium carbonicum, mainly for the bronchial tubes, support the healing process.

Important: Your child now needs bed rest in a darkened room, plenty of fluids and warm, moist room air to calm the airways.
