Hyperthyroidism (thyrotoxicosis) - hyperthyroidism

The most common form of hyperthyroidism is Graves' disease, an autoimmune disease of the thyroid gland. We are accompanied by symptoms such as rapid fatigue, increased sweating, weight loss, accelerated heartbeat, constant feeling of hunger and nervousness.

If the wrong or too high a dosage of thyroid hormones is used during treatment, thyrotoxicosis, a poisoning by thyroid hormones, can occur. Symptoms of this are panic attacks, sleep disturbances, diarrhea, shortness of breath and hair loss.

If you are affected by hyperthyroidism, have your doctor determine which type of hyperthyroidism you are suffering from. This is then usually well treatable.
