Heart failure, heart disease with reduced blood pumping rate

In heart failure, colloquially known as cardiac insufficiency, the heart is unable to move the amount of blood needed to supply the body through the arteries, a condition known as >forward failure<, and to accommodate the return flow of blood through the veins, >backward failure<.

Heart failure is usually caused by a heart attack, high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, arrhythmia or valve damage.

If you are often tired and exhausted, quickly out of breath especially when climbing stairs, or have thick legs and oppressive shoes, talk to your doctor.
