In diabetes, sugar metabolism is disturbed, blood sugar level is increased due to lack of insulin, or our body responds poorly to insulin.

We distinguish in 3 diabetes mellitus types.

Diabetes type 1 is almost always an autoimmune reaction. Here, our own immune system defense cells attack insulin-producing beta cells.

Type 2 diabetes, also known as adult-onset diabetes, is not primarily insulin-dependent. It is caused by an unhealthy lifestyle and may also be genetically predisposed.

Diabetes type 3 : here are summarized special forms of diabetes, which are due to previous diseases or derived from genetic origin.
